Caffe Diagnostics
Specialist espresso machine maintenance and diagnostic services.

About
Hello my name is Aaron French.
In 2013 I started Caffe Diagnostics, believing that my coffee skills and experience were worth sharing.
I'd not only been part of a successful café startup, giving me valuable experience into all aspects of the hospitality around coffee, I'd spent three years as a sales representative and technician for Caffe L'affare, an established national supplier of coffee and coffee equipment.
It was at this stage in my career that I first discovered my love of teaching.
Not only was I now responsible for coffee machine sales and technicals, but Barista Training took up a significant proportion of my time. My challenge was to take a trainee, who'd never even steamed a jug of milk, and transform them into a barista able to pour hundreds of consistent brews every day.
At first it seemed too hard given the time constraints. Finally, it drove me to analyse the fundamental techniques required to sculpt the perfect coffee, techniques I used instinctively after years of experience, techniques that needed to be broken down into simple steps easily absorbed, practiced and replicated again and again and again.
And so developed my barista training classes, providing easy to follow, practical steps to becoming a barista working the trade every day, the volunteer who becomes the most loved person in the church café or the home enthusiast who delights friends with real coffee. Whatever the context, my aim has always been, and always will be, to train my people so that they optimise their machinery and consistently pour a great extraction and create velvety milk.
The other side of Café Diagnostics specialises in espresso machine maintenance and diagnostic services. 've spent ten years working with and on many different makes and models of espresso gear and, although I'm still learning, I've built up a fund of knowledge and resources which I can use to solve most problems.
So, as well as providing barista training, I'm also available to provide 'To your Door' espresso maintenance services.
I'm finding that my quarterly service cycle is something that is becoming popular with my clients. I give your machine a thorough checkup every three month and we generally avoid any frustrating and costly breakdowns, safety issues or, most importantly, coffee deprivation.
I can usually fix the machine onsite, but if I have to take it back to the workshop I usually have a loaner available.
Gas + Battery machines, as used in coffee carts, now form an important part of the business, both setting up new carts and servicing those in regular use. I have experience with LPG conversions and have developed trusting relationships with local gas technicians for installation and certification. My advice, having many times reworked mickey mouse and unsafe installations, is to only use experienced technicians. There are legal and safety requirements that must be complied with.
Grinders? Let me give your old faithful a tuneup or maybe a set of new burrs.
So, I guess my message is this: If you're in the coffee business, an enthusiast or a complete newby looking to buy your first machine. That's scary! Give me a call anytime from 7am til late or drop me a text or email. I can help, with advice, with training, with maintenance. My years of experience are at your service.
Services
In-house service
From my experience, I have discovered the need for an in-house service for domestic customers who either don't want to take their machine for repair or servicing or simply find the machine to heavy and cumbersome to lift; so need some one to service and maintain their machine at home on the bench.
This is why I offer a door to door service with a loan machine as an option if the repair requires your machine to be taken away for any length of time.
Commercial services
For commercial clients I can offer you a breakdown service solution which comes with a 2 group Wega EPU, if your machine requires a fix that can not be completed on site.
I have multiple ambulance machines in my workshop ready for any unforseen circumstance so you as the customer suffer no down time due to faulty machinery.
